Staplegrove Scout Group
Staplegrove Scout Group is made up of a Cub pack for boys aged 8-10yrs, and a Scout troop for boys aged 10-14. The youngsters then can progress to Explorer Scouts which are district based.
Cubs and Scouts take part in all manner of activities, last year the Scouts visited a glass blowers, had a canal trip, camped just outside London (visiting the London Eye and some of the sights); camp this summer was located in the Black Mountains in Wales. Activities based in the Scout hut include traditional scout craft and more creative activities. The Scout group are also involved with Taunton carnival and run a very popular annual Firework display.
Cubs have completed their local knowledge badge, a fitness challenge and an environment award. Camping is just as important as in Scouts and the pack aims to retain the Indian Head trophy, which they won at District camp last year!
The Scouts are currently meeting jointly with the Guide unit and sharing programmes.
Cubs meet Mondays 6.30-8.00pm in the Scout hut.
There are two Scout troops, Young Guns meet on Wednesdays and Monkey Fists on
Thursdays, 7-9pm in the Scout hut.
